It’s a cliche, but the st​art of the New Year can put a spring in your step. People use the fresh st​art to make big decisions they’d been putting off. If only for a month or two, gym memberships rise, healthy eating reigns supreme and the wine remains on the shelf. People decide to move or get married. It’s a life changing time.

Spring cleaning and detox-ing aside, now is a great time to st​art re-assessing problem areas in your life. Don’t rush at it: January may be the month of new beginnings but it also contains the most depressing day of the year! Now is not the time to force change, but to st​art it (hence why those gym memberships lie dormant from February onwards!)

I noticed the other day, while trying to organize my preowned hermes bags collection – and what a collection it is! – that certain things really stress me out. It’s weird…you’d think that the fun things like organising luxury bags would be just that, fun. But actually, I often find that that is not the case. In fact, even weirder still, I find that doing the house-work puts a smile on my face. And as for washing up the dishes, well, I know it’s wrong, but there is actually something very satisfying about making sure they are all perfectly clean and ready to be dried up.

But here’s the thing, before we get on to some healthy alternatives: a super diet can work wonders for your body. It can seriously change the way you’re feeling and alter your mind set at the same exact time!

Marian works for House Cleaning Surrey . Her job is to clean two houses every single day, five days a week.
